Tip 1: Try to stay neutral on the topic[]

Avoid bringing your own opinions into an article. Adding factual information is a vital key to success when it comes to editing and formatting articles.

When the way you view something is changed by your opinions or experiences, you are biased. Bias makes an article much less genuine, and often misinforms the reader. Don't say something is bad in an article just because you don't like it. Instead, look at it from an objective point, assessing the true mechanics and bare bones statistics rather than relying on opinionated information.

Example: You have trouble fighting the Booster, so you write in its article that it is the most overpowered tank in the entire game.

Tip 2: Don't primarily use the Visual Editor[]

The Visual Editor (VE) is the default way of editing set for new Wikia members. The idea of it is to make editing easier for people that aren't familiar with wikitext.

However, if wikitext editing comes easy, then the Source Editor (SE) will give you the editing edge. The SE shows the code for the article, allowing for the user to change the appearance of the page with ease. It lays out a road map to which the user can:

  • Edit infoboxes much easier
  • Change the color and formatting of text, making the wiki look better aesthetically
  • Eliminate unnecessary spaces that can hinder the reader's experience

So please use the Source Editor. To find it, Click on the drop down menu on the right of the Edit button and select Classic Editor. From there you will see a tabber at the top of the editing plane that says Visual and Source. Click on source and all of the code pops up!

Tip 3: The Guides are Your Friend[]

Way too many concepts and pages have to be deleted or heavily edited because someone didn't read the Style Guides. To keep things clean on our wiki, we want to make sure everything looks up to par and professional meaning we have a few guidelines that need to be followed to make the best pages possible.

Don't fret, as these guidelines are super easy to meet. Knowing the Source Editor as stated above can help out tremendously in these situations as this is the place where many of the staff will look at in order to keep the code clean and manageable. So please before you start, please go and read the guidelines. They'll give you a lot of useful information in order to start your wikia journey.
