Wiki Event News

Next Sandbox

The next Wiki Sandbox] will be on Saturday April 29th, from 10 AM EST to 11 AM EST, after which there will be an hourlong gaming session. There were several participants this past Saturday, so we expect the next Sandbox to be a lot of fun.

WIKI APPS ARE HERE!

Fandom has finally gotten around to releasing Mobile Apps for our Wiki! While we don’t have word about the App Store App, the Google Play App can be found here. Users cannot currently edit from the App, but they eventually will be able to do so. What the App does allow users to do is browse pages more easily on mobile, as well as participate in Discussions. The App is also available in Chinese; switching to Chinese in language settings will instead load pages from the Chinese Diep.io Wiki, and allow you to participate in the Chinese Wiki Discussions straight from the App.

Some Wikis, namely the Elder Scrolls Wiki, treat their Community Apps as a somewhat separate entity from the Wiki itself. This will not be the case with the Diep.io Wiki; our App, and those who participate in Discussions from said App, will be considered just as much a part of our community as everything else, and be subject to the same community guidelines as well. The user who suggests an improvement in the Wiki Business Category from the Mobile App, will be given just as much consideration as the editor who posts a suggestion in the Petitions Board.

Tank Building Contest

Captain Hayden and Banarama’s 3rd Seasonal Tank Building Contest is going well! This is the last week to submit your tanks, so hurry!

Bugs Project

As per this thread, the Bugs Page is soon to be deleted! Bugs from that page need to be moved to their appropriate pages using the proper templates & headers. If you’d like to learn how to help, check the Style Guide for more info. If you’d like to see a page with a completed bug section, check out the Mothership Page. Once each Bug is moved from the Bugs Page to their appropriate pages, then those Bugs should be removed from the Bugs Page until it is completely empty; once that happens, the Bugs Page will be deleted.

Community-To-Do-List Overhaul

We have completely renovated the Community-To-Do-List, which appears on the Community Page. It now hosts several projects that users can engage in to help out the Wiki, so check those out!

New Discussion Post Rewards Coming Soon!

We will soon begin issuing Rewards for Discussion Post counts, just like we do for Edit counts. Expect to be able to start earning them very soon!

Check out the Rewards Page! Start posting on Discussions!

Wiki Policy News

This week has been relatively quiet, but there are several things that need to be discussed.

News Team Dissolution Discussion

Currently only one user, Underslime, is on the News Team de jure. The News Team will still be around, but we should discuss the necessity of the group in the comments. Should it stay? Should it allow anyone to join? Should it be dissolved? Should all Staff be able to work on the News? The feedback we get will decide the way we move forward.

Policies Open Question

Are you happy with the current Policies? Do you think they are easy to access, easy to understand? Should they be shortened? Should any Policies be changed? Do you feel that you have enough say in what the Policies are, & if not, how would you like Staff to include your suggestions into the Policies? Please speak up in the comments.

Discussions Category Rename

The Tournaments Category was renamed to “Party Links & Events”. The same kinds of stuff (tournament and contest discussions) can still go there, but it is now primarily a place to schedule gaming parties with large groups. You can schedule your gaming parties the day of or a month in advance, and anything in between. The Discussions Guidelines were updated to reflect this change, so posts about parties that are concluded will be locked and eventually moved into the Archive Category (the event is over after all).

What do you think about the current Discussions Categories? Do we have too many, too few? Should more be renamed? A comment is appreciated.

New Right Rail

Fandom’s new right rail (the right side of the page where the Chat and Recent Wiki Activity modules are located) has been released. Although several modules were not properly restyled, Admins have used CSS to make sure they all match. Fandom is still changing the rail, so until they are finished the Admins won’t apply any additional CSS to them. Once they are finished, we can explore restyling or even restoring the modules to their previous state.

Fixes & Add-Ons

The “See More” button was restored to the Recent Wiki Activity module; it links to Special:WikiActivity. Beyond that, a WDS button linking to the Community-To-Do-List talk page was added to the Community Page, wherein users can suggest changes for the List.

Templates

The new buttons on the right rail, called WDS Buttons, appear to be the newest route Fandom is moving toward. The old buttons may be removed if past trends are any indicator, so it is heavily suggested that the new WDS Button Template be used over the normal Wikia Buttons, since those will not likely be removed anytime soon. There is also a right and left version of the template, floating the button to the left or right of the page as desired.
